The Meeting of the Transcarpathian Hungarian Pedagogical Association on the admission of children to the first grade and on the situation of college applicants
On April 16, the Transcarpathian Hungarian Pedagogical Association (THPA) held an online meeting.
One of the priority issues discussed at the meeting was the admission of children to the first grade in the next academic year. Dr. Ildiko Orosz, chairwoman of the Transcarpathian Hungarian Pedagogical Association, informed us that according to the decree of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, during the quarantine parents have the opportunity to apply online for the admission of the child to the first grade. An online application form was created for this purpose, but it does not provide an opportunity to choose the language of instruction of the institution to which the parents intend to enroll their child. The THPA decided that parents should be advised that they either indicate the language of instruction in the application itself or in the annex thereto. The Transcarpathian Hungarian Pedagogical Association appeals in a letter to the Head of the Regional Department of Education and to the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine with a request to correct the application form.
The agenda also included a discussion on whether the Transcarpathian Hungarian graduates will be able to take the final exams in Hungary. The management of the THPA has applied to the Hungarian State Secretariat for Education, asking them to take a decision on this issue and to publish the relevant information as soon as possible.
